Relay for Life Golf Tournament

SYLVESTER, GA – The Relay for Life Golf Tournament will be Saturday, March 10 at the Pine Knoll Golf Course at 9 a.m.

The tournament is being sponsored by Olam Edible Nuts. The team registration fee will be $200 and the hole sponsor fee will be $50.

Four people are allowed to be on a team together, for an application click here.

OCILLA, GA - The Harlem Globetrotter Legends Basketball Team will play the Irwin County All-Stars, Saturday, January 21 at 7 p.m. at the Irwin County High School.

Two of Georgia’s most outstanding high school seniors were honored with distinguished recognition as State Winners of the 2011 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. 

Princess Forbes of Campbell High School in Smyrna and Ellen Grier of The Westfield School in Perry will now go on to compete for the national award that celebrates their hard work, dedication and exceptional records in athletics, academics and community leadership.

Three south GA student-athletes compete for national honors

News release from Georgia Department of Education

WHAT:  As the competition narrows for the 2011 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award program, 20 of Georgia’s top scholar-athletes were announced today as State Finalists for the prestigious award.

These finalists are now in the running to become State Winners, the next phase of the program as applicants advance to become National Winners.

Of the 48,000 seniors who applied nationwide, 1,710 applicants came from Georgia and have been narrowed down to the state’s 20 finalists.
