Tiftarea wins GISA state golf | News

ALBANY, GA- A second place finish last year was a motivating force for the Tiftarea golf team this season.
The Panthers shot a 308 on Monday and won the GISA AAA state golf title by seven shots over Augusta Prep.
Tiftarea's Thomas Buckner was the boys low medalist with a 70 and Carolina Griffin also earned all-state honors with a 75 to lead the Panthers title effort.
Thomas Buckner said."We have working hard all year to get this goal. It has been a team effort. It is not one player. It is all team."
Carolina Griffin said. "Ot means everything. We have worked so hard for it."
Coach Mike Patrick said. "This is a year round process after last year when we finished state runner-up. They continued working and playing all summer."
It was great day for Deerfield-Windsor.
The Knights finished in third with a score of 316 which was one shot behind Augusta Prep.
John Leach shot a 74 to lead the Knights and he earned all-state honors.
Sherwood Christian finished in 5th place with a score of 318.
