MTC career fair to support local job hunters | News
MOULTRIE, GA - News release from Moultrie Technical College
The upcoming 2012 Community Career Resource Fair in Moultrie on April 26 could be the key to give weary job seekers a boost in a competitive employment climate.
More than 50 local businesses and industries will assemble at Moultrie Technical College’s (MTC) Veterans Parkway Campus Conference Center from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for the 2012 Community Career Resource Fair.
Moultrie Tech and the Moultrie office of the Georgia Department of Labor will join forces to present the event to familiarize the businesses and industries in our region and job hunters with one another. The event is open to the public as well as all Moultrie Tech students and graduates.
Whether or not employers have jobs to offer at this time, job seekers will benefit from learning about local companies and what skills they would expect their employees to possess.
In turn, businesses may find matches for future employment. Industries expected to be at the fair include healthcare, industrial manufacturing, sales and banking, among others.
“Moultrie Technical College’s spring semester ends May 3; therefore, businesses and industries will have the opportunity to meet the college’s graduating class as well as upcoming summer semester graduates.
If an employer finds a good fit for an employment need, our well-trained, educated graduates will be ready to start work right away,” says Erica Stallings, MTC Student Affairs Coordinator.
Additionally, all job seekers are encouraged to bring updated resumes and all information necessary to complete job applications on site.
Furthermore, to create a positive impact on employers, Stallings urges participants to “make a great first impression; consider this the first interview with a future employer,” and come dressed in business attire.
Because this is a professional event and space is limited, no children or strollers will be permitted.
Among the employers expected to participate in the fair are Aflac Insurance, Albany Tractor, Avon, Berrien County Board of Education, City of Albany, Cives Steel Company, Colson Printing, Southwest Georgia Bank, Vocational Rehabilitation, WellCare of Georgia, Quality Employment Service, Mediacom, Equity Group Georgia Division, Moultrie Technical College Human Resources, Georgia Forestry Commission, US Air Force, Harvey’s Supermarket, Lowes, ResCare HomeCare, Tift Regional Medical Center, Telamon Corporation, SWGA Workforce Investment, Labor Finders, US Army, Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, City of Moultrie/Moultrie Police Department, Lowndes 911, Mary Kay Cosmetics, New Hire Solutions, PARC-Albany, Right From the Start Medicaid Outreach Project, Superior Communications Solutions, TDC Consulting, Woodmen of the World, and Open Arms Incorporated.
