ABAC magazine to host Writers’ Harvest

TIFTON, GA - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s literary magazine, Pegasus will sponsor the Writers’ Harvest Thursday, November 1 at 7 p.m. at the Peanut Museum.

The admission price will be one non-perishable food item or canned good. All donations will go toward supporting Brother Charlie’s Rescue Mission.

“Pegasus” staff members will collect all canned goods and non-perishable items through November 1.

Donations can also be dropped off at the ABAC professor offices.

The Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will continue the popular Bottles and Brushes series on Aug. 24 with an acrylic painting by local artist and class instructor, Brenda Rose.  

This month’s featured subject is angels.

“In August, students will have the opportunity to pick one of several angel paintings, and work with the instructor to personalize it to their liking,” said Polly Huff, GMA Gallery Coordinator.

Bainbridge College’s “Taste of the Middle East” ended last week, April 9-12, with art and poetry contests, samples of Middle Eastern delicacies, folk dance exhibitions, lectures on the U.S. foreign policy issues and a roundtable discussion on rebuilding in the Middle East, the role of women, and the hurdles of combat that U.S. armed forces personnel have had to deal with during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Participants can learn to paint in a creative atmosphere when the Bottles and Brushes art class takes place on March 23 from 6-9 p.m. at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.  

While enjoying their favorite beverage, aspiring artists will recreate “Some Pig” by Brenda Rose.

Rose will guide participants through the process of recreating the original picture, while a piece of art materializes before their eyes.

Twenty-five more GA counties designated as Camera Ready communities

The Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office, a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), designated 25 Georgia counties Camera Ready at the inaugural Film Day at the Capitol event today.

The state’s Camera Ready Community Program was created to enhance Georgia’s statewide resources for the growing number of film and television productions. Launched in October 2010, the program now includes 136 counties across the state.

Arts council to offer Corks and Canvases class

FITZGERALD, GA – The Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Arts Council will offer a Corks and Canvases painting class Monday, February 20 and Sunday, February 26.

The fee to attend the class will be $30 and must be paid by Monday, February 20.
