Georgia Wildlife Rescue Association offers rescue training

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - More people are having unwanted encounters with wild animals in south Georgia, and the weather is part of the reason.

The mild winter and early spring led to a long and active mating season.

That means there are more animals wandering around out there and more animals getting hurt or separated from their parents.

That's creating more work for wildlife rehabilitators.

Buckle up or get a ticket

TIFTON, GA- You better buckle up. The Governor's Office of Highway Safety is launching its annual "Click it or Ticket" campaign on May 21st.

Drivers can expect a ticket if they don't buckle up because law enforcement agencies across the state will be looking for violators.

Ginny Lukasik never gets into a car without buckling up. "I had an accident about two years ago, and if I wasn't wearing a seat belt I would have been hurt much worse," says Ginny Lukasik, Motorist.
